Jingchu University of Technology

The Jingchu University of Technology (JUT) is a full-time public university duly approved by the state Ministry of Education. National standard (GB) code: 11336, legal representative: Wu Linzhang.

JUT is situated in the midtown of Jingmen, Hubei, a city famous for long cultural history and dubbed gateway to Hubei. The campus covers an area of 2100 mu (140 hectares), with school premises of 580,000 square meters. Surrounded by nice mountains and river, the campus enjoys an awesome environment with perfect layout, a full range of functions, advanced facilities and beautiful landscape.

JUT has 14 teaching institutes (departments) and 1 affiliated hospital, in addition to the School of International Education and Continuing Education College. 20 undergraduate courses and 33 diploma courses are offered, covering 7 categories of disciplines: science, engineering, education, medicine, literature, economy and management. Over 18000 full-time students are studying here. Currently, the size of registered faculty is 1262, including over 1000 full-time teachers, out of which, over 300 hold titles of professor or associate professor. 11 of them enjoy special allowance from the State Council and provincial government. Currently, JUT boasts teaching apparatuses and equipment worth nearly RMB 100 million yuan. It also boasts 100 training centers and labs for NC technology, printing engineering, stomatological technology, electricity & electronics, IPV6 network, clinical pathology and test, fundamental physics, music and fine art respectively, in addition to over 130 external practical & training bases. Currently, the library offers over 1.44 million paper books, 2500 paper journals, 8000 electronic journals, and over 400,000 e-books. JUT owns auto management system and rich e-literature database.

JUT keeps the effort in deepening of teaching reform, optimization of the course structure, and exploration for talent raising models and practice, having developed many courses with unique traits. Over the years, by beefing up its force and developing advantageous disciplines, JUT has made contribution to development of some disciplines and research bases with distinct traits, beefed up industrial, academic and research cooperation, and long-term friendly cooperation with leading enterprises, in Hubei or otherwise and promoted building of the faculty and improvement of their teaching skills. Many teachers were or are involved in national, provincial and municipal ad hoc researches, and have reported rich fruits in scientific research, which may be testified by many awards for outstanding achievements and registration of national patents. JUT has published over 300 books and teaching materials, and more than 20 teaching materials have been listed as teaching materials of national level for common higher education for the 11th five-year plan, and more than 10 courses have been chosen as provincial select courses, and more than 20 provincial awards have been obtained for the teaching results.

Due to the consistent effort in building of the campus culture, the comprehensive quality of the students has improved significantly. The students, as teams or individuals, have obtained outstanding results in national and provincial contests. The student Liu Fangyan, who studies while taking care of her blind mother, has won high attention from the CPC Central Committee Publicity Department, Ministry of Education and CPC Hubei Committee, and was listed a national top 10 "Chinese model for filial piety for seniors" 2006. JUT was honored many times with the title of a "civilized organization in Hubei" and a "top civilized organization in Hubei", and reported good results in the province-wide assessment of school running level and comprehensive employment assessment.

Considering future employment of the graduates as a priority, JUT has found an effective way to cooperate with enterprises and focus on specific trainings for jobs". The JUT graduates, with high adaptability and the ability to apply the knowledge, have received praise from the employers. Every year, JUT invites more than 100 employers to recruit people they want on the campus. Over the years, JUT leads the provincial peers in terms of the job rate of fresh graduates, and was honored many times with the title of an "advanced higher education organization in Hubei for employment of fresh graduates".

The Jingchu University of Technology keeps its consistent effort in running the school under the philosophy of "running the school with quality, talents, management and traits". With focus on undergraduate education, JUT has developed some diploma courses to meet the need of adult education and overseas student education. Under guidance of scientific view of development, JUT is working hard to push harmonious development of disciplines, academy and style of study, in a bid to develop itself steadily, fare better with innovation, and build the university into an application-oriented undergraduate school with distinct traits.
